Part of a transportable classroom study; this project explores the idea of building with a modular ‘kit of parts’ to offer multiple learning configuration options.
Base classroom modules are positioned on site with predefined openings to accommodate a variety of ‘bolt on’ elements.  These elements might include door and window kits, greenhouses, wet rooms and technology pods or breakout spaces.  Unlike conventional transportable classrooms, these units could be customized to adapt to a variety of climatic and environmental conditions and be neatly connected to existing buildings and spaces.
Pre-fabrication of building elements in controlled factory conditions brings down construction costs and eliminates building waste on site.  Schools in remote locations can also benefit, with the ability to efficiently build more complex structures and technologies where skilled labour is not available.
